Scott County Facts

  • In 1999 there were 2,057 children reported for child abuse or neglect, which is a rate of 44.7 per 1,000 children. The state rate is 28.1 per 1,000 children.
  • Of the FY 99 reports, 38% (782) were indicated reports.
  • During 1999 in Rock Island County, there were 11 confirmed reports of substance exposed infants compared to 15 in 1998.
  • 120 children were placed in protective custody during 1999 compared to 139 in 1998.
