Look for Line 28B

on your Illinois Tax Return

Illinois taxpayers have the opportunity again this year to help stop the cycle of child abuse by donating to the Illinois State Child Abuse Prevention Fund. Simply check line 28B and add a dollar amount on your Illinois state income tax return form.

What is the Illinois Child Abuse Prevention Fund?

The Illinois Child Abuse Prevention Fund offers a unique opportunity for taxpayers to help prevent child abuse and neglect in our state. All donations received from Line 28B go directly to the Illinois Child Abuse Prevention Fund. This fund helps develop and maintain community programs and services such as parenting education related to child abuse prevention; safety issues for children affected by child abuse and domestic violence; and public awareness and education programs on child abuse prevention. Contributions to this fund may be made whether an individual is receiving a tax refund or not and all contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

It has been proven that prevention is the most effective way to truly diminish child abuse and neglect. For the past 25 years, our nation has been learning about the stark realities of child abuse and neglect. Many new programs have been established to support and educate parents, strengthen families and involve communities. Progress has been made. With your support, donations to this important fund will grow and programs will be expanded to protect children and strengthen families throughout the state. Together we can stop the cycle of abuse that continues to be a devastating problem for your children and our future.

You can make a difference in the life of a child.

The Child Abuse Council (CAC) is a United Way funded agency dedicated to preventing child abuse and promoting healthy family relationships. Everyday we work to help families, professionals, and the community through our prevention and treatment programs, youth services, training and public awareness activities. Most of our programs serve Scott and Rock Island Counties.

The Child Abuse Council was organized in 1977 through the efforts of citizens and professionals concerned about child abuse and neglect in the Quad Cities. Its philosophy has always been one of community effort and cooperation. We have a local commitment to Prevent Child Abuse Illinois and Prevent Child Abuse Iowa and have many programs and services that help children and their families.
